Pilates Retreat in Portugal - 22nd to 29th October 2017

  • We will be walking through the pristine nature of Cascais and Sintra National Park where mountains meet oceans, so expect some picturesque views.

Teachers

Annita Cole - "I have been teaching Movement in the South West of England, since 2011. My own interest and passion for bodywork started 26 years ago while I was living in Asia. A serious back injury led me to my first yoga class, and over time it made such a dramatic difference to my body and therefore the rest of my life, that continuing to practice and study the body and how it moves, has been something I have immersed myself in ever since.

In 16 years of working as a yoga teacher, a massage therapist and a Pilates teacher, I have come to understand that really being able to feel what is happening in our own bodies, helps us to develop better relationships with and a better understanding of ourselves, our physical challenges and limitations. With a greater ability to feel and understand, we are empowered to help ourselves in a more informed way.

My personal challenges with pain, disability, and subsequent rehabilitation have only served to inform my teaching style and fuel my compassion to be able to support and encourage you to be the best you and your body possibly can be.

The Pilates method I work with is unique, and gives me the tool to work with you and your uniqueness, in a way that you will truly feel. Pilates nurtures awareness, and this combined with walking, being in nature and space for reflection enhances the powerful benefits of the method. I very much look forward to sharing this with you".

Palmira Brandão - "I am the founder of Walking Within. I am a physiotherapist and a Neuro-linguistic Programming Master. For years I have spent time on self-development programmes and courses in an effort to find a medium I could use to reconnect with myself, however, in the end (or beginning), the real answers came when I retired to nature and silence. In nature I learnt that I could connect with myself, and by doing so, I found that it truly resonated with me. Giving ourselves time and space in an organic atmosphere calms our spirit and clears our mind, allowing for an inflow of new energy and ideas.

The philosophy of Walking Within is to share this experience with others, so they can to reconnect with the essence of their being. I have worked in the corporate world with many people who have physical and stress-related problems, such as burn-out and anxiety. We lose ourselves in the hustle and bustle of westernised society, we dwell on the past, and live in the future, rarely connecting with our present. The philosophy of Walking Within is to guide people into becoming conscious of the now, giving them the opportunity to reconnect with themselves, so they can once again find and recognise their wishes, needs, talents and desires".
